3809375 - Required Field Validation in Goal Plan XML: Alignment with Performance Form

• A field marked as required="true" in the Goal Plan Template XML is enforced when a user creates or edits a goal in the Goal Plan (Goal Management module).
• Users are able to save/submit the Performance Form without filling in fields that are mandatory in the Goal Plan.

• SAP SuccessFactors Performance & Goals

1. Open a performance form.
2. Navigate to the goals section where both user and manager can rate goals.
3. Observe that for some goals the user’s rating is missing or not visible, despite the user having submitted ratings.

• The rating field on the performance form is not configured as required in the performance form template, allowing the form to move forward without an entered rating.
• The “required” setting in the Goal Plan XML applies only when creating or editing goals in the goal plan and does not enforce requirement on the performance form.

1. Confirm the field intended to be required has required="true"

2. Ensure the field has write permission for the relevant roles. Read-only fields will not trigger required validation on the Performance Form

3. Remove mgt-only="true" from Performance Form XML

Note:

The Goal Plan XML (obj-plan-template) and the Performance Form XML (form-template-object) are two independent templates with separate validation layers.

• The required="true" attribute on a field-definition in the Goal Plan XML enforces validation only when goals are created or edited directly within the Goal Plan.
• When goals are accessed via the Goal Details tab on the Performance Form, the form renders goal fields based on:
  • field-permission entries in the Goal Plan XML (read/write access)
  • tab-permission for goal-details in the Performance Form XML
• The required attribute from the Goal Plan XML is not carried over to the Performance Form validation layer.
