Symptom
- After checking the PO cXML, tax details are not converted from IDoc.
- TaxCategory is not copied from IDoc to cXML.
- Only the tax amount appears in the cXML; the TaxDetail segment (including TaxCategory) is missing.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Send a Purchase Order from SAP S/4HANA Cloud to Ariba
- Verify the outbound IDoc/payload from SAP S/4HANA Cloud includes tax information.
- Review the resulting cXML and observe that only tax amount is present; tax code, TaxCategory, and tax rate are missing, so invoice creation does not copy PO taxes.
Cause
- The mapping “Define Mapping for SAP Tax Conditions to External Tax Categories” in SAP S/4HANA Cloud was not configured.
- As a result, the TaxCategory was not sent in the OrderRequest_Out payload, and the gateway could not populate TaxDetail in the cXML.
Resolution
- In SAP S/4HANA Cloud, open the Manage Your Solution (F1241) app as a configuration expert.
- Choose Configure Your Solution.
- Filter: Application Area = Sourcing and Procurement; Sub Application Area = Integration.
- Open Integration with Suppliers.
- Select Configure for “Define Mapping for SAP Tax Conditions to External Tax Categories.”
- Map the relevant SAP tax condition types to the required external tax categories as per your tax design (refer to the 42K setup guide).
- Save and transport/activate the configuration as required.
- Re-trigger the PO output and verify that the OrderRequest_Out payload now includes TaxCategory and related tax details.
- Confirm that the resulting cXML contains the TaxDetail segment (tax code and rate), and that taxes are copied from PO to invoice.
