3809673 - Error message: "You don't have permission to open the app you're trying to access" occurs accessing situation handling related app

Symptom

    • When attempting to navigate to the related app from a situation instance in the My Situations – Extended app, the following error message is displayed: "You don't have permission to open the app you're trying to access". 
    • The error occurs regardless of the business roles assigned to the user. 
    • Navigation to the related app is not possible. 

    Environment

    SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. 

    Reproducing the Issue

    1. Navigate to the situation notification in the SAP Fiori launchpad.
    2. Click the related app button or link. 
    3. Observe the error message: "You don't have permission to open the app you're trying to access". 

    Cause

    The Navigation Target configured in the Situation Object specifies an incorrect Semantic Object or Action. This causes the system to attempt navigation to an app that cannot be resolved, resulting in the permission error being displayed.

    Resolution

    1. Open the Manage Situation Objects app. 
    2. Open the relevant Situation Object. 
    3. Navigate to the Navigation Targets tab. 
    4. Review the configured Semantic Object and Action values. 
    5. Verify the correct Semantic Object and Action for the intended target app using the SAP Fiori Apps Reference Library at https://fal.cloud.sap and selecting SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud as the Product. 
    6. Search for the target app by name or Fiori app ID. 
    7. Open the app details and select the SAP Fiori Launchpad tab. 
    8. Navigate to the Target Mappings section. 
    9. Note the correct Semantic Object and Action values listed here. 
    10. Update the Navigation Target in the Situation Object with the correct Semantic Object and Action values. 
    11. Save the Situation Object. 
    12. Re-test navigation from a situation instance to confirm the error is resolved.
