In the Asset Overview app , a functional location without a maintenance plant assignment is displayed to a user whose authorization is restricted by maintenance plant .

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the Asset Overview app.
2. Enter a Parent Functional Location that has no maintenance plant assignment in the “Parent Functional Location/Equipment” field.
3. Select Go.
4. Expand the hierarchy.

When a functional location has no maintenance plant assigned, the plant-based authorization check (for example, on maintenance plant) cannot be evaluated against a specific plant value. As a result, the object is not restricted by plant authorization and remains visible.

This is the expected Behavior.

SAP's authorization framework does not block access to objects where the key authorization field (maintenance plant) is blank — instead, the system treats the blank value as a condition that bypasses the plant-based restriction, allowing the object to be visible to users regardless of their maintenance plant authorization scope.
