3810004 - I-9 Section 2 List B Expiration Date Still Required for Military-Related Document Types - Onboarding

Symptom

In Form I-9 Section 2 (List B), Military-related identification document types still require an Expiration Date field entry to proceed.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding.

Reproducing the Issue

1. Launch Section 2 task as an authorized HR user.
2. Navigate to List B: Identity Document section.
3. Set “Is Document Receipt” to No.
4. Select one of the following documents: US Military ID Card, US Military Draft Record, Military dependent’s ID card, or USCG Merchant Mariner Card.
5. Observe that Expiration Date is required and prevents continuation.

Cause

This is expected behavior.

Resolution

The Expiration Date field is intentionally mandatory for Military-related List B documents in Form I-9 Section 2. Per USCIS regulations, any document presented for I-9 verification must be unexpired at the time of inspection. The system enforces this field to ensure the document being used is valid, an expired military ID cannot be accepted for I-9 purposes.

If the military document does not contain a printed expiration date, enter a future date in the Expiration Date field to unblock Section 2 completion.
