Symptom
After maintaining a value such as "DEFAULT" in the "Reference" field of the house bank account master data (Manage Bank Accounts app) for an Australian (AU) company code, the outgoing payment file is rejected by the bank. When you inspect the generated DME/DMEE file, the bank account number does not appear as expected. Instead, the content of the "Reference" field is appended to the end of the bank account number, producing a combined string. For example, an account number of "011222333001" is exported as "011222333001DEFAULT" in the account ID node of the file (for example under the path PmtTpInf > DbtrAcct > Id > Othr > Id). Because the resulting account identifier contains non-numeric characters and an unexpected suffix, the receiving bank rejects the payment. The same reference update performed for other countries or house bank accounts (for example NZ001, MY000, MY002) does not cause any rejection.
