3810462 - Minimum Amount not Applied in Freight Charge Calculation for Weight-Based Rate Table

Symptom

Incorrect charge rate determination where system does not apply the minimum amount for weights below the defined threshold from a weight-based freight agreement rate table, despite scale values being maintained.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In Manage Freight Agreements, create or open a freight agreement that uses a rate table with calculation base: source location, destination location, and GROSS_WEIGHT.
  2. In the rate table, maintain pricing such that for example:
    • For weights greater than or equal to a threshold (for example, ≥ 27 TO), use a per-weight rate (for example, 10 EUR/TO).
    • For weights below the threshold, a minimum amount applies (for example, 300 EUR).
  3. Create a freight order with matching source/destination and a gross weight below the threshold (for example, 20 TO).
  4. Start freight charge calculation and observe that the minimum amount is not applied.

Cause

The GROSS_WEIGHT scale in the rate table was configured with Scale Type = Base Scale; the minimum/maximum amount is only evaluated for scales with Scale Type = Same Scale combined with a relative calculation type.

Resolution

  1. Open the Manage Rate Tables app and navigate to the rate table used by the freight agreement.
  2. Go to Scales and set the GROSS_WEIGHT scale’s Scale Type to Same Scale.
  3. Open the relevant calculation sheet line that uses GROSS_WEIGHT and ensure the calculation type is relative (for example, per unit such as per TO).
  4. Maintain the minimum (and/or maximum) amount at the calculation sheet line-item level, not per individual scale row.
  5. Save the rate table and activate or ensure it is valid for the agreement dates.
  6. Recalculate freight charges on the freight order:
  • For weights below the threshold, the minimum amount should be applied.
  • For weights at or above the threshold, the per-weight rate should be used.
