3810522 - Work Order notifications are not displayed in Manage Alerts and Notifications - Employee Central

Symptom

Expiring Work Order notifications are configured to be triggered before the Work Order termination date, for example, 30 days and 7 days before the termination date.

The Off Cycle Event Batch job is configured and running daily, and the notification emails are successfully sent to the recipients.

However, the corresponding notifications cannot be found under Manage Alerts and Notifications as pending notifications.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Configure an Expiring Work Order notification to be triggered a specific number of days before the Work Order termination date, for example:
    • 30 days before termination date
    • 7 days before termination date.
  2. Ensure the Off Cycle Event Batch job is configured and scheduled to run daily.
  3. Create or maintain a Work Order with a termination/expiry date that meets the notification criteria.
  4. Allow the Off Cycle Event Batch job to execute on the corresponding day.
  5. Confirm that the notification email is sent to the configured recipient.
  6. Navigate to Manage Alerts and Notifications.
  7. Check the pending notifications.

The notification email is sent successfully, but no corresponding pending notification is displayed in Manage Alerts and Notifications.

Cause

Expected behavior.

Resolution

Expiring Work Order notifications use a different notification mechanism from notifications processed through EC Alerts Notifications.

Notifications generated through the EC Alerts Notifications job are based on business rules configured as saveAlert. These notifications can be generated and stored in the system and therefore may be visible under Manage Alerts and Notifications.

In contrast, Expiring Work Order notifications are triggered directly by the Off Cycle Event Batch (OCEB).

The Off Cycle checks the relevant Work Order data during its daily execution. When a Work Order meets the configured notification criteria, such as reaching 30 days or 7 days before the termination date, the notification is generated and sent as part of that day's Ops Cycle processing.

Because the notification is generated and sent directly during the Off Cycle execution, a future/pending notification is not created and stored in Manage Alerts and Notifications.

Therefore:

  • The daily execution of the Off Cycle Event Batch checks the Work Order data.
  • When the expiry criteria are met, the notification is generated.
  • The notification is sent on the day it is generated.
  • No future notification is stored beforehand.
  • Consequently, the notification is not expected to appear as a pending notification in Manage Alerts and Notifications.
