Symptom
A security hardening exercise, for example, a RISE security recommendation, SAP Security Optimization Service (SOS) finding, or ECS-initiated review has identified one or more active SICF services that are proposed for deactivation.
One or more of the following questions are raised:
- What is the purpose of the identified ICF service, and is it required in a production SAP S/4HANA system?
- Is the service currently in use, and how can usage or dependencies be verified?
- Which SAP programs, function modules, or third-party applications depend on this service?
- Is it safe to deactivate the service, and what is the expected impact?
- Is the service obsolete in SAP S/4HANA, and is there official documentation or an SAP Note confirming this?
- How can the deactivation be reversed if needed?
