Symptom
The termination date displayed in the Offboarding Dashboard does not match the actual termination date in Employee Central. Instead, the dashboard shows an earlier or unexpected date.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding.
Cause
The Initiate Offboarding rule does not have an event-based restriction. Because of this, the rule re-evaluates whenever any Job Information record is processed and not only on termination events.
When a non-termination Job Information change (such as a Data Change or Compensation Change) is processed, the rule fires against that record. The system derives the target date from the effective date of that record (effective date − 1 day) and writes it to the Target Date field on the Offboarding Process Object. Since the Offboarding Dashboard directly reflects the Target Date, the incorrect date is displayed.
The actual termination record in EC may be correct, but it is not the record that triggered the rule evaluation.
Resolution
To prevent this from occurring, ensure the Initiate Offboarding rule includes an event-based condition. This restricts rule evaluation to actual termination records only, preventing non-termination Job Information changes from re-triggering the date calculation.
