3810697 - Permission denied when creating /var/tmp/hdblcm.log and /var/tmp/hdblcm.msg during HANA database upgrade

Symptom

  • During the database upgrade, Permission denied issue when creating log files /var/tmp/hdblcm.log and /var/tmp/hdblcm.msg.
  • The timestamped hdblcm log under /var/tmp/hdb_..._hdblcm_update_/hdblcm.log is created successfully.
  • Database services are running fine after the upgrade.
  • Error message: "Could not create logfile '/var/tmp/hdblcm.log': Permission denied"
  • Error message: "Could not create logfile '/var/tmp/hdblcm.msg': Permission denied"
