Symptom
There are some questions regarding the IPv6 enablement
Environment
SAP Datasphere
Resolution
Q1: Does SAP Datasphere now support IPv6?
SAP Datasphere is planned to support dual-stack (IPv4 and IPv6), meaning both protocols will be supported simultaneously. However, IPv6 is not yet available — the current release only supports IPv4. Customers will be notified through official SAP channels when IPv6 support becomes active.
Q2: Do I need to change my existing IPv4 security rules or network routing configurations?
No. IPv4 connectivity remains fully supported. Existing IPv4 security rules and routing configurations do not need to be changed as a result of this update.
Q3: When will my connection use IPv6?
IPv6 will only be used for a connection when both sides of the connection support IPv6. If your network does not support IPv6, all connections will continue to use IPv4 exactly as before — no action is required.
Q4: I am an SAP RISE (PCE) customer running on an IPv4-only landscape. Is any action required?
No. For SAP RISE PCE customers running on IPv4-only landscapes, no immediate action is required. Your existing IPv4 configurations remain valid and fully operational.
Q5: What should I do if my network does support IPv6?
If both your network and the SAP Datasphere endpoint support IPv6, connections may begin using IPv6 once support is enabled. In that case, you should ensure your IPv6 security rules are in place accordingly to allow the relevant traffic.
