Symptom
When a fare with a specific class of service is booked for a trip with multiple flight segments, the traveler may be seated in different sections of the aircraft throughout the journey. For example, a passenger with a "First" class fare might be seated in a First class cabin for one segment of the trip, and then in an Economy class cabin for another segment.
For example, if a portion of a RIC-ORD-LAX journey has the following flight segments:
- RIC-ORD, AA 5694, Economy cabin, total flight distance 642 miles
- ORD-LAX, AA 1585, First cabin, total flight distance 1,745 miles
The ORD-LAX flight segment is considered the most significant segment (MSS). The ORD-LAX segment's First physical cabin will be used as the fare class of service for user interface display and policy validation.
