3822523 - Why am I getting the error "Violation of UNIQUE KEY constraint 'UK_CT_LIST_ITEM'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.CT_LIST_ITEM'" when I try to change an item folder code in list management

When I try to update an Item Code in List Management the following error is thrown: "Violation of UNIQUE KEY constraint 'UK_CT_LIST_ITEM'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.CT_LIST_ITEM'. The duplicate key value is (some_key, some_item)". How can I correct this?
