Symptom
The Estimated Total Cost card on the Trip Overview page is a live estimate of the cost of the bookings that are currently active in the trip. It is not a fixed figure captured at purchase, and it is not a running ledger of money charged and refunded.
When you cancel part or all of a trip, the card updates:
- Cancel one booking out of a multi-booking trip: the costs for that booking are removed from the card. The affected travel type (Flight, Car, Hotel, Rail) total and the Estimated Total Cost both drop by the removed amount. The remaining bookings continue to display normally.
- Cancel the entire trip: the card no longer displays any cost.
A short information note appears at the bottom of the card to explain this: "Original cost, refund, or penalty for cancelled or changed bookings are not displayed." (In the Supportability support tool the equivalent note reads "Costs for canceled bookings are not displayed.")
What you will not see after a cancellation:
- The original cost of the canceled booking.
- Any refund amount being returned to you.
- Any cancellation penalty or change/penalty fee being charged.
- Any non-refundable remainder.
In other words, after a cancellation the card does not report "you paid X, were refunded Y, and were charged a penalty of Z." It simply re-states the current estimated cost of whatever is still booked.
