3823561 - Date appears one day earlier in Manage Sales Orders process flow

Symptom

Dates displayed in the Process Flow of the Manage Sales Orders app appear one day earlier than expected when compared to the same dates shown in related downstream apps. For example, the Freight Unit date visible in the Process Flow was showing one day before the date displayed in the Manage Freight Units and Manage Freight Order apps.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Cause

  • The Process Flow in Manage Sales Orders reads date data from the CDS view I_TranspOrdSDProcFlwDetails and renders all dates in UTC by default.
  • It does not have access to the localized time zone settings that individual downstream apps may apply.
  • Those apps, such as Manage Freight Orders (which has dedicated time zone configuration parameters) display dates converted to the user's local time zone. Since data is stored internally in UTC, a local midnight timestamp in a time zone ahead of UTC (such as India, UTC+5:30) converts to the previous calendar day in UTC.
  • This is the value the Process Flow picks up and displays, resulting in the apparent one-day difference.

Resolution

  • This is standard system behavior.
  • No data inconsistency exists, the underlying dates are stored and processed correctly.
  • The discrepancy is display-only and is caused by the UTC rendering of the Process Flow versus the localized rendering of the downstream apps.
  • For accurate dates in local time, refer directly to the relevant downstream apps rather than the Process Flow view in Manage Sales Orders.
