3826437 - Open Outbound/Inbound Quantities filters show different results than MD04 in Stock – Single Material app — SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • In the Stock – Single Material app (F1076) with the new filters “Open Outbound Quantities” and “Open Inbound Quantities,” the analysis appears incorrect.
  • Results differ from MD04 for the same material and reference date.

Environment

Product: SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the Stock – Single Material app (F1076).
  2. Enter a key date.
  3. Apply the filters “Open Outbound Quantities” and “Open Inbound Quantities.”
  4. Compare the displayed open quantities with MD04 for the same material and date; observe differing results.

Cause

The behaviour is by design. Each tool applies a different logic for time horizons and reservation dates:

Tool                                                               Date Input Stock BasisReservations Included
MMBE -Stock OverviewNo date input possible                           Period-end stockAll open reservations (past + future)
Stock – Single Material (F1076)Key date can be enteredStock up to entered key date                 All open reservations regardless of planned date
MD04 - MRP Stock/Requirements List         Time horizon-basedActual current stockPlanned stock changes within the defined timeframe only

When a key date is entered in F1076, the stock figure is correctly calculated up to that date. However, the open reservation quantities include all open reservations — including those with a planned consumption date beyond the entered key date. MD04 limits its display to movements and requirements within its planning horizon, which produces a different quantity for the same reference date.

The root cause of the discrepancy is the handling of reservation planned dates.

Resolution

No corrective action is required. The behaviour is by design and not a defect.

To reconcile quantities or obtain a time-bounded view of requirements, the following is recommended:

  1. Use MD04 when a time-horizon-restricted view of stock requirements is needed, as it only considers movements within its planning horizon.
  2. In F1076, be aware that open reservation quantities reflect all open reservations regardless of planned date. To isolate reservations relevant to a specific date, review the underlying reservation documents and filter by planned consumption date.
  3. MMBE does not support key date input and always uses period-end stock with all open reservations — it is not suitable for date-specific analysis.
  4. Optionally analyze reservations using the Material Reservation Analysis app (F8923).
