Symptom
After upgrading your system, while performing the SPAU modification adjustment, the system displays the following error:
Package <PACKAGE_NAME> does not exist
The system requests a valid package assignment when performing the SPAU action, but the package is no longer available, resulting in message TR414: "Package does not exist."
Environment
SAP NetWeaver - All BASIS releases.
Reproducing the Issue
- Execute transaction SPAU.
- Select the relevant object requiring modification adjustment.
- Proceed with the modification adjustment or reimplementation/reset activity.
- When the system requests a package assignment, the system attempts to use the package previously assigned to the object.
- If the package is no longer available in the system, the following error is displayed:
Package <PACKAGE_NAME> does not exist
Cause
The affected package is no longer available in the system, while objects that were previously assigned to this package remain present.
The reason why the package was deleted is related to the upgrade process and should be investigated by the Upgrade team.
Resolution
To proceed with the SPAU activity, one of the following options can be used:
Option 1 – Recreate the missing package
Recreate the missing package using transaction SE21 and then retry the SPAU modification adjustment.
Option 2 – Assign the object to an existing package
When SPAU requests a package assignment, assign the object to a valid customer package that already exists in the system. The available packages can be checked using transaction SE80.
