Symptom
When processing a Sales Order, the system displays the following error message:
"Party role Ship-To and location role Ship To Location inconsistent; report a case."
Due to this inconsistency, the Sales Order cannot be submitted or processed further.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Sales Orders work center.
- Select the Sales Orders view.
- In the Show field, select All Orders.
- Search for the affected Sales Order.
- Open the Sales Order in Edit mode.
The following error message is displayed:
"Party role Ship-To and location role Ship To Location inconsistent; report a case."
Depending on the scenario, a system dump may occur while reproducing the issue. However, no system dump was observed in the reported scenario.
Cause
The Ship-To Location is not correctly updated at the Sales Order header level.
As a result, the Ship-To party and the corresponding Ship-To Location become inconsistent, which causes the Sales Order to become inconsistent.
Resolution
A dummy change to the Ship-To party by removing the existing Ship-To and adding the same Ship-To party again. This triggers the recalculation of the Ship-To Location and clears the inconsistency.
- Go to the Sales Orders work center.
- Select the Sales Orders view.
- In the Show field, select All Orders.
- Search for the affected Sales Order.
- Open the Sales Order in Edit mode and select View All.
- Navigate to the Involved Parties tab.
- Remove the existing Ship-To party and press Enter.
- Select Add Row and enter the same Ship-To party again.
- Press Enter again.
The system recalculates the corresponding Ship-To Location and the error message is cleared.
The Sales Order becomes consistent and can be submitted for further processing.
