When confirming a production order operation using Confirm Production Order Operation (CO11N) with partial confirmations, the system automatically proposes the same batch number for every subsequent partial confirmation, triggered via movement type 101 (Goods Receipt for Production Order), instead of generating a new batch.

1. Create a production order.
2. Release the production order.
3. Perform partial confirmations for the operation.
4. In subsequent partial confirmations, observe that the previously used batch is proposed instead of generating a new batch.

This is standard, expected system behavior by design.

In SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, a production order represents a single production lot. When a movement type 101 (Goods Receipt for Production Order) is posted, either during the first partial confirmation or the final confirmation, the system assigns a batch to the production order. All subsequent movement type 101 postings triggered by further partial confirmations will, by default, reuse the same batch number.

This design is based on the principle that all partial quantities produced from the same production order belong to one and the same production batch, since they originate from the same manufacturing lot, with the same input materials, under the same order parameters.

The automatic reuse of the same batch number across movement type 101 postings in partial confirmations of a production order is the intended standard behavior in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

If a separate batch number is required per partial confirmation, the user must enter the batch number manually during each confirmation.
