Symptom
After changing prompts, SAP.GETVARIABLES() continues to show last saved prompt values.
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office
Reproducing the Issue
- Use SAP.GETVARIABLES() to capture user input values from the prompt.
- Change prompt values, and execute the workbook.
- Observe that SAP.GETVARIABLES() still shows the previously saved prompt values.
Cause
This is current by design mentioned by the Product Manager in the enhancement request:
SAPGET formulas do not expose which data source they are linked to. As a result, triggering an automatic refresh whenever a variable changes would refresh all SAPGET* formulas in the workbook — including those that are unrelated to that data source or that do not use variables at all. This could lead to very heavy and sometimes unnecessary recalculations, which may not provide the best experience for all customers.
Resolution
To see the up-to-date variable values via SAP.GETVARIABLES(), user need to manually click "Refresh Sheet Functions" or "Refresh Selected Functions".
