Symptom
When working with a Lead in SAP Sales Cloud Version 2, the blue progress bar at the top of the Lead record displays four statuses — Open, Contacted, Accepted, and Converted — but the 'Declined' status does not appear as a step in the progress bar. The 'Declined' status can only be set via the Status field or the "Set Status" action on the Lead record.
Environment
- SAP Sales Cloud Version 2
- SAP Sales Cloud and SAP Service Cloud Version 2
- SAP Service Cloud Version 2
- SAP Enterprise Service Management
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the Sales Work Center > Leads view.
- Open a Lead record.
- Review the blue progress bar at the top of the record.
- Observe that the 'Declined' status is not present as a step in the progress bar.
Cause
The progress bar on the Lead record is designed to represent the lead lifecycle progressing toward conversion, guiding users through the sequential stages: Open → Contacted → Accepted → Converted. The 'Declined' status is an internal, terminal status that represents a non-conversion outcome and falls outside this cycle. By design, it is not included as a step in the progress bar and is only accessible via the "Set Status" action on the Lead record.
Resolution
This is the expected system behavior. The progress bar on the Lead record represents the lead conversion lifecycle and intentionally includes only the statuses that lead toward conversion. The 'Declined' status is excluded from the progress bar because it represents a terminal, non-conversion outcome.
To set the 'Declined' status, use the Set Status action available directly on the Lead record.
