3830913 - Supplier invoice API consolidates multiple tax lines with same tax code into one line in OA integration, SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • Integration with OA results in three lines of tax details entered in OA, but after transmission they are consolidated into one line in the system.
  • Finance cannot reconcile tax details because multiple tax lines become a single consolidated line.
  • No error message is displayed.

Environment

  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
  • Logistics Invoice Verification (Public Cloud)

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Integrate with OA for supplier invoice posting.
  2. Enter three separate tax detail lines in OA.
  3. Transmit the invoice payload to the supplier invoice API.
  4. Observe that the system consolidates the multiple tax lines into one line.

Cause

  • Standard behavior: The supplier invoice API uses a header-level tax summary keyed by Tax Code. Multiple header tax entries with the same Tax Code are consolidated into a single tax line.

Resolution

  1. In the OA or middleware layer, group all tax lines by Tax Code before calling the supplier invoice API.
  2. Sum the Tax Amount per unique Tax Code.
  3. Send exactly one header tax entry per unique Tax Code in the API payload.
  4. If detailed tax-line granularity is needed for reconciliation, retain and report that detail on the OA side; it will not be preserved in the system by design.
  5. Note that there is no configuration or API parameter in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition to disable or prevent this consolidation.
