3831100 - SAC Data Analyzer : Not able to have more than one dimension placeholders in an hyperlink

Symptom

When configuring a hyperlink to an External URL in Data Analyzer, the OK button becomes disabled after entering a URL that references two dimensions (for example, placeholders for Dim1 and Dim2).

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud
  • SAC Data Analyzer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open Data Analyzer and assign a model.
  2. Add two dimensions to Rows and a measure to Columns.
  3. Open the Style panel, select Hyperlink, and choose External URL.
  4. Enter an External URL that includes two dimension placeholders, for example: https://www.abc.com?a={{Dim1}}&b={{Dim2}}
  5. Observe that the OK button becomes disabled.

Cause

In Data Analyzer, only one dimension is supported per hyperlink URL. Multiple dimensions (tuples) on a single hyperlink are not supported, which causes the validation to disable the OK button when more than one dimension placeholder is included.

Resolution

  1. Configure the External URL to include only a single dimension placeholder per hyperlink.
  2. Remove any additional dimension placeholders from the URL so that validation passes and the OK button becomes enabled.
  3. If needed, create additional hyperlinks for other dimensions (one hyperlink per dimension).
  4. If the requirement is to pass multiple dimension values in a single URL, use a Story where this scenario does not occur.

Caveats : Multiple Hyperlinks in Data Analyzer Tables

Feature Availability: SAP Analytics Cloud — Data Analyzer | Wave 2026.14

Overview

Data Analyzer now supports the creation of multiple external URL hyperlinks directly on table grids. Hyperlinks are associated with dimension members, allowing users to link dimension values to external web resources for enriched reporting and navigation.

How It Works

Hyperlinks in Data Analyzer are configured per dimension. When a dimension member appears in a table and has a hyperlink configured, that member becomes a clickable link to the specified external URL.

Key rules:

  • Only 1 URL per dimension is permitted.
  • Only 1 dimension per URL is permitted.
  • A single table can contain multiple hyperlinks (one per dimension).
  • Hyperlinks display only on dimension members — not on measure values, data cells, or headers.

Accessing Hyperlinks

Hyperlinks are managed exclusively through the Styling Panel.

  1. Open your Data Analyzer table.
  2. Navigate to the Styling Panel.
  3. Locate the Hyperlinks section (styled consistently with the Thresholds panel).
  4. Use the panel to add, edit, or delete hyperlink configurations.

Creating a Hyperlink

  1. In the Hyperlinks panel, click Add Hyperlink.

  2. The Hyperlink Configuration Dialog opens with three mandatory fields:

    FieldDescription
Hyperlink NameAuto-generated by default (e.g., "Hyperlink 1", "Hyperlink 2"). Can be customised.
External URLThe full external URL to link to. Validated when you click OK.
Select DimensionChoose a dimension from the list. Both dimension ID and description are shown. In-use / not-in-use status is indicated.
  3. Click OK to save. The hyperlink will appear as a card in the Hyperlinks panel (name only — URL is not shown on the card).

Note: The dimension suggestion popover is sized to display the full dimension name where possible. "In use" / "Not in use" indicators are right-aligned within the list.

Display Behaviour

ScenarioBehaviour
Dimension in use in the tableHyperlink displays on dimension member cells
Dimension not in use in the tableHyperlink is not displayed (configuration is retained)
Dimension removed from the table after hyperlink was createdHyperlink is no longer displayed; configuration remains

Managing Hyperlinks

From the Hyperlinks panel in the Styling Panel, you can:

  • Edit an existing hyperlink (name, URL, or dimension).
  • Delete a hyperlink.

Hyperlink cards display the hyperlink name only (the URL is not shown). Names are truncated if too long — no scroll bar is shown on the card.
