Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud Add-in for Microsoft Office
Resolution
I. Clear the MS Office Add-in Cache
Follow the instructions provided on the Microsoft documentation page:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/dev/add-ins/testing/clear-cache
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/dev/add-ins/testing/clear-cache#manually-clear-the-cache
**On Windows:**
1. Close all Office applications.
2. Open File Explorer.
3. In the address bar, type `%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Office\16.0\` and press Enter.
4. You will see a folder named `Wef`. **Delete this `Wef` folder.**
5. Restart Excel and try the add-in again. The folder will be recreated automatically.
**On macOS:**
1. Close all Office applications.
2. Open Finder.
3. From the `Go` menu, select `Go to Folder...`.
4. Enter the following paths one by one and delete the contents of the folders:
* `~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/Library/Caches/`
* `~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/WEF/`
II. Add-in installed by the user
If the add-in is installed by the user but configured centrally for the organization by the Microsoft 365 admin, remove the add-in and use the central deployment triggered by the admin.
III. Make sure the add-in has been deployed and the tenants configured by the Microsoft 365 admin:
The add-in has been deployed by administrator by following the steps:
https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_ANALYTICS_CLOUD_OFFICE/2b73edbc8f8f4189a36bc7a2e038185c/45ef30e1e14d4258864cbc794250289f.html?locale=en-US
The Tenant Configuration steps have been followed:
https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_ANALYTICS_CLOUD_OFFICE/2b73edbc8f8f4189a36bc7a2e038185c/db2f874261824d63adb3ca198f65ce55.html?locale=en-US
Please note that it may take up to 24 hours for the changes to propagate across the Microsoft 365 infrastructure before these changes become effective.
IV. Microsoft 365 admin PowerShell commands to check tenant configuration
Execute the below commands in sequence within the same PowerShell session and with a Microsoft 365 admin user:
Import-Module O365CentralizedAddInDeployment
Connect-OrganizationAddInService
Get-OrganizationAddInOverrides
The logic behind these commands is as follows:
Import-Module O365CentralizedAddInDeployment: This loads the necessary tools into your current PowerShell environment. Without this, your session won't recognize the subsequent commands.
Connect-OrganizationAddInService: This command establishes an active authenticated session with the Microsoft 365 service. This connection exists only within the memory of that specific PowerShell window.
Get-OrganizationAddInOverrides: This command retrieves the actual configuration. It relies entirely on the connection created in the previous step; if the PowerShell windows is closed or a new session is started this command will fail.
Note:
Before running these commands, make sure to execute PowerShell as a Windows Administrator and the Centralized Add-In Deployment module is installed on the local machine.
In order to verify that the O365CentralizedAddInDeployment module is installed open PowerShell and run the following command:
Get-Module -Name O365CentralizedAddInDeployment -ListAvailable
If a version number is displayed (e.g., 3.0.2) the module is installed. If no results appear: The module is missing and must be installed.
V. How to check the user is a Microsoft 364 admin user:
Open the following page:
https://admin.microsoft.com
If the current user is an admin the Microsoft 365 Admin Center dashboard will be displayed.
If the current user is NOT an admin a message like “You don’t have permission to access this page.” or "Switch to an account that has permission" will be displayed.
VI. For further assistance open a support incident with SAP and provide the following information:
1. A screenshot of the results of the Get-OrganizationAddInOverrides command as executed in step IV above.
2. The zipped content of the following folder (exclude WebView2 folder to reduce the size and use the ZIP format as the SAP portal may block other archive formats such as 7z, etc):
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Wef
