Symptom
You have completed all documented configuration steps for the National ID with Validity Period feature as per the 1H 2025 release, but are still receiving the duplicate National ID error when attempting to add multiple records of the same card type with different validity periods via the UI.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
- National ID information
- New National ID Information with Validity Period
Reproducing the Issue
Step 1 Open user A's personal information > National ID Information
Step 2 Add Personal ID Number, valid from is 2017/9/5, valid to is 2026/4/1.
Step 3 Add another Personal ID Number record, the number is same with step2, valid from is 2026/4/2, valid to is 2026/9/1 > save, error occurred:
China, Personal ID Number, from 4/2/26 to 9/1/26
There are duplicate records for the national ID card type Personal ID Number in the country/region China. Compare them and remove the one you don’t need.
Cause
The National ID with Validity Period feature validates duplicates for allowlisted card types using Country + Card Type + National ID value. Validity period is not part of the duplicate key by design.
Resolution
This is expected behavior. The feature is designed for employees holding multiple IDs of the same type with different ID numbers (e.g., upon card renewal). Having the same ID number across two records is not a supported use case, regardless of validity period.
