Symptom

  • SAP BW InfoObjects are not available for selection as a query source of Import BW in SAC when 'With Master Data' option is disabled
  • The issue also happens when  'With Master Data' option is enabled but 'Characteristic is InfoProvider' option is disabled for the BW InfoObjects

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud, Enterprise Edition 2026.15.12
  • Import connection to SAP BW

Reproducing the Issue

  1. 'With Master Data' and 'Characteristic is InfoProvider' option is disabled for one BW InfoObject.
  2. Log on to SAC tenant.
  3. Try to create a new model/query based on Import BW connection.
  4. Search for the InfoObject in Query selection.
    => Observe that the InfoObject is not shown in the list so cannot be selected.

Cause

  • This behaviour is by design in SAC.
  • Like Analysis for Office (AO), SAC can consume either a BW Query or a BW InfoProvider.
  • Set the flag 'Characteristic is InfoProvider' and 'With Master Data'.

Resolution

Ensure both 'With Master Data' option and 'Characteristic is InfoProvider' option are enabled for the BW InfoObject. 

It is strong suggested to have a test using Analysis for Office (AO)
