Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors

    • SAP SuccessFactors Story reports

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to Report Center.
  2. Open a Story report in Edit mode; the pop-up to “Switch All Tables to New Build Experience” appears.

Resolution

Behavior in QRC3

Newly Created Story Reports

All new story reports use "New Table Build Experience" by default.

Classic Story Reports Converted to Optimized mode

When a classic story report is converted to optimized mode, all tables are automatically converted to "New Table Build Experience".

Optimized Story Reports Using Old Table Build Experience

When an optimized story report containing "Old Table Build Experience" tables is opened in edit mode, a consent dialog is shown with two options: Switch or Cancel.

If the user selects SWITCH:

  • All tables in the story report are converted to New Table Build Experience.
  • This state is not persisted until the report is saved.
    • SAVE → "New Table Build Experience" is persisted. Reverting to "Old Table Build Experience" is no longer possible.
    • Exit without Save → Story report retains "Old Table Build Experience". The consent dialog will appear again on the next edit mode opening.

If the user selects CANCEL:

  • Story report continues to use "Old Table Build Experience".
    • SAVE → The story report cannot be converted to "New Table Build Experience" until next QRC update. The consent dialog will be suppressed for subsequent edit mode openings.

Note: With the 2026 SAC QRC4 release, opening the story report in edit mode will trigger automatic migration of all tables to "New Table Build Experience".

    • Exit without Save → The consent dialog will continue to appear on each edit mode opening.

Behavior in QRC4+

Newly Created Story Reports

All new story reports use "New Table Build Experience" by default.

Classic Story Reports Converted to Optimized mode

When a classic story report is converted to optimized mode, all tables are automatically converted to "New Table Build Experience".

Optimized Stories Using "Old Table Build Experience"

When an optimized story report containing "Old Table Build Experience" tables is opened in edit mode, all tables are automatically migrated to "New Table Build Experience". No consent dialog is shown.

Note: This migration is not persisted until the report is saved.

  • SAVE → "New Table Build Experience" is persisted for all tables. Reverting to "Old Table Build Experience" is no longer possible.
  • Exit without Save → Story report retains "Old Table Build Experience" until it is opened in edit mode again and saved with NTBE.

Important Note:

Since post QRC4, tables are automatically converted to New Table Build Experience whenever an affected story report is opened in Edit mode. Therefore, if you encounter issues or validation errors after the conversion, we recommend one of the following approaches:

  • Exit the story without saving to preserve the original version.
  • Use 'Save As' to create a copy for testing and validation purposes.

Using 'Save As' allows you to evaluate the behavior of the migrated tables while keeping the original story on Old Table Build Experience.
