Symptom
- In an Optimized Story that consumes a Datasphere analytical model with a dynamic prompt variable, after saving a bookmark, the prompt variable values persist and do not revert to server-defined defaults.
- Variable settings show Keep last saved values for dynamic variables unselected and Clear variables and use server-defined values selected, yet the bookmark still retains the prompt values.
Environment
- SAP Analytics Cloud Enterprise (2026.15.12)
- Live connection to Datasphere
Reproducing the Issue
- Open an Optimized Story that uses a Datasphere analytical model containing a dynamic prompt variable.
- Configure bookmarks to include only selected components (such as input controls), excluding story filters.
- Apply a story filter on the same prompt variable used by the model.
- In variable settings, ensure Keep last saved values for dynamic variables is unselected and Clear variables and use server-defined values is selected.
- Save a bookmark.
- Reopen the story or apply the bookmark and observe that the prompt variable remains at the saved value instead of reverting to the server-defined default.
Cause
The Story Details option Override default variable settings is enabled, which causes bookmarks to retain variable values instead of clearing them to server-defined defaults.
Resolution
- Open the story and go to Story Details.
- Turn off Override default variable settings.
- Ensure Keep last saved values for dynamic variables is unselected if you do not want viewer-specific variable persistence.
- Ensure Clear variables and use server-defined values is selected to enforce model-defined defaults on open/apply.
- Save changes, create a new bookmark, and verify that applying the bookmark reverts variables to the server-defined defaults.
