Symptom
- You faced an error when attempting to remove the instance pairing in Configuration Transport Center.
- Error message: "An error has occurred. Please refresh the metadata cache in your source and target instances and try again. To refresh the metadata cache, go to Admin Center > OData API Metadata Refresh and Export, and then choose Refresh. If you are still unable to generate the authentication token, please contact Technical Support."
- The error persists even after you followed the resolution on the error message.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
Reproducing the Issue
- Log in to the Source instance.
- Navigate to Configuration Transport Center.
- Go to Transport Routes tab.
- Attempt to remove the target pairing by selecting the delete (X) action on the desired target.
- Observe the error message and that the pairing is not removed.
Cause
- The issue is caused by data inconsistencies originating from the backend system, leading to processing errors.
- This could also be cause by incorrect "Target Instance Environment" for example you selected preview when the tenant is actually on a production stack
Resolution
First make sure that you have entered the correct information in "Target Instance Environment" (some test system might reside on a production stack)
Ensure that you have done the recommended fix from the error message:
1. Refresh the OData API metadata cache on both source and target:
- Go to Admin Center > OData API Metadata Refresh and Export.
- Choose Refresh and wait for confirmation on each instance.
2. Retry removing the pairing in Configuration Transport Center > Transport Routes.
If the error persists, raise a Support case under: LOD-SF-PLT-CGC and provide your approval with Support that we can:
- Run the “MDF Object Definition to DB Sync” job for both source and target (via Provisioning) to fix potential MDF metadata inconsistencies.
- Retry removing the pairing.
- If the issue still persists, we will request removal of the affected instance pair via script.
- Verify that the pairing no longer appears in Transport Routes.
Ensure to include the following:
- Company IDs of Source and the Target instance that needs to be unpaired/deleted
- Support Access of Source Instance
