Symptom
- In the Manage Inbound Deliveries app (VL06I), the Storage Location description field is not available in the Change Layout Column Set in the Item View.
- Only the Storage Location code (4-digit field) is available for selection.
- Business users cannot display the Storage Location description in the Inbound Delivery Item List.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the Manage Inbound Deliveries app (VL06I).
- Execute the selection to display the Inbound Delivery List.
- Click Item View in the toolbar.
- Open Change Layout.
- Search for Storage Location description in the Column Set.
- Only the Storage Location code field exists. The Storage Location description field is not present.
Cause
- VL06I is a classic ABAP-based transaction.
- The field catalog for the Item View Change Layout is controlled entirely by SAP standard delivery and does not include the Storage Location description field.
Resolution
Two options are available.
Option 1: Key User Extensibility (exploratory, unconfirmed for VL06I):
The customer can explore creating a custom field on their Development tenant via the Custom Fields app using the business context Shipping: Delivery Item (LE_SHP_DELIVERYITEM), and populate it with the Storage Location description via the Custom Logic app. This approach has not been confirmed to work for VL06I specifically and must be validated by the customer on their own Development tenant before use in production.
Option 2: Feature Request:
If the workaround does not apply, the customer should submit a feature request via the SAP Influence portal (https://influence.sap.com) requesting SAP to include the Storage Location description field in the VL06I column set in a future release.
