Symptom
In 2026, certain Canadian provinces decided to stop observing the traditional end of Daylight-Saving Time (DST). As a result, the following Learning time zone IDs are impacted by this change:
- America/Edmonton.
- America/Inuvik.
- America/Vancouver.
- America/Winnipeg.
- America/Yellowknife.
- Canada/Central.
- Canada/Mountain.
- Canada/Pacific.
SAP SuccessFactors Learning hasn't yet been fully updated to reflect this rule change. Starting November 1, 2026, Learning Administrators and Users in affected time zones may notice that times are displayed one hour earlier than their actual local time.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Learning
Cause
The impacted provinces have legislated that their clocks will no longer fall back at the end of DST. These time zones will remain at their DST offset (ex.: UTC-6 for America/Edmonton, UTC-7 for America/Vancouver) after November 1, 2026, when they would traditionally revert to standard time.
SAP SuccessFactors Learning derives time zone definitions from the Java Development Kit (JDK) it currently uses. The JDK version currently used by Learning still follows the traditional rule and expects these time zones to fall back on November 1. If no fix is applied before the DST transition date, the system will convert times using the standard-time offset - one hour behind the actual local time - producing the discrepancy described above.
Resolution
Temporary workaround
Until the fix is delivered, the impact can be mitigated by temporarily switching to a time zone that doesn’t observe DST and is permanently fixed at the same UTC offset that the impacted time zone currently maintains. This avoids the mismatch caused by the system applying an incorrect DST transition.
Planned fix
For SAP SuccessFactors Learning, the fix is currently planned as per the below table. The dates are subject to change, and the KBA will be updated accordingly.
| Time Zone | SaaS Preview | SaaS Production/SalesDemo | VSaaS Production | VSaaS Preview | VSaaS Sandbox |
|
America/Edmonton, America/Vancouver, America/Yellowknife, Canada/Mountain, and Canada/Pacific | October 12, 2026 | October 23, 2026 | October 24, 2026 | October 24, 2026 | October 24, 2026 |
| America/Inuvik, America/Winnipeg, and Canada/Central | TBD | TBD | TBD | TBD | TBD |
SAP is actively working to confirm delivery dates for the time zones marked as TBD. This KBA will be updated as soon as dates are confirmed.

Impact on existing entities
Until the fix is delivered, existing entities and scheduled/running jobs that use the impacted time zones, such as automated processes, classes, and scheduled reports, may occur/run at unexpected times. The fix will correct the system’s time zone behavior going forward, but it won’t automatically update existing entities or jobs. Therefore, anything created before the fix and scheduled for a date after the DST transition should be reviewed and manually adjusted if necessary.
How to identify and correct impacted classes
One way to identify potentially impacted classes is as follows:
- Before running the search, check your Learning Administrator time zone preference and confirm whether “Always display Classes in this Time Zone” is selected under Learning Administration > Preferences >
- Navigate to Learning Administration > Learning Activities > Classes >
- Set “Start Date After” to November 1, 2026 >
- Consider adding “Primary Location”, “Security Domains”, and “Items” as search criteria. If these fields aren’t available, add them using “Add/Remove Criteria” >
- Run the search and review the results >
- Use “Field Chooser” to configure the results to display: “Class ID”, “Title”, “Item/Resource Block”, “Start Date/Time”, “End Date/Time”, and “TimeZone” >
- If needed, export the results using "Download Search Results".
Possible ways to correct the impacted classes include:
Option 1:
- Examples of time zones permanently fixed at the relevant UTC offsets: UTC−7 > America/Phoenix, UTC−6 > America/Regina, UTC−5 > America/Panama >
- Learning Administration > Learning Activities > Classes >
- Open the desired class > “Details” tab >
- Update the “Class Time Zone” field > Click "Save".
Option 2:
- Learning Administration > Learning Activities > Classes >
- Open the desired class > “Agenda” tab >
- Select “More (three dots)” > Edit Time Slot >
- Update the start/end time or time zone as needed > Click "Save".
Option 3: For mass updates, use the Class Connector (SAP Help Portal - How to Use SAP SuccessFactors Learning Connectors | KBA 2404463).
