• Issue in the behavior of field : Region of Birth for some Countries(France, Italy, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela) in Biographical Information where this field is expected to be changed to picklist dynamically upon edit which is not happening unless reselected again for future hire.
• When region of birth field for these countries are selected and saved, external code of the picklist is displayed instead of label for future hire.

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Prerequisite:

• Standard picklist for these countries exists in the system.

Steps:

1. Go to biographical information portlet of any future hire.
2. Click on edit (pencil icon) -> select country of birth as any of these countries (France, Italy, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela).
3. Notice that region of birth field is picklist as per design.
4. Select any value for region of birth field-> save
5. Result: External code is displayed instead of label.
6. Now, again click on edit you can notice that region of birth is free text field instead of picklist.
7. Select country of birth field to any other country and reselect the country again from this list(France, Italy, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela)
8. Result: Region of birth field is a picklist. 

PS: This issue is noticed only in future hire and not in past employment or current employment.

• Engineering team has confirmed that this feature of "Hard-coded" solution to convert the region-of-birth from free text to picklist for the specific five countries (Italy, France, Venezuela, Brazil, Chile) will be sunset in the upcoming PPX(new people profile), hence there is no plan to fix the current defect where external code is displayed instead of label for future dated records.
• Workaround: Please check, evaluate and implement Localized Biographical Information to achieve the same purpose.
