Symptom
A new hire is processed in the system and a workflow is involved in the hire process which needs to be approved before the hire can be fully moved into EC. Even if the 'Formal Name' field is not edited during the hire process and is not edited during the workflow process, the 'Is Overridden' / 'is-overridden' value is changed from 'No' to 'Yes' after the hire workflow is approved.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
Reproducing the Issue
- Log into environment
- Go to 'Manage Pending Hires' or 'Add New Employee' to process a hire
- Submit the hire, trigger a workflow which needs to be approved
- Finish approval of the workflow
- Notice the 'Is Overridden' / 'is-overridden' field, which relates to the Formal Name and Name Format, has been set to 'Yes' even though no changes were manually made to the Formal Name
Cause
During the hire process, the formal name value is generated before the workflow is triggered. When the workflow is being approved, a call is made to generate the formal name again, which causes the 'Is Overridden' / 'is-overridden' value to be switched.
Resolution
This is a known scenario which will be resolved with ECT-258411 with the 2H 2025 / 2511 release.
