Symptom
- SuccessFactors deep links redirect to the Homepage on first click when accessed from an external source (ex: third party service providers like ServiceNow or via EMail notifications).
- On the second click, the deep link successfully redirects to the intended page (ex: People Profile).
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors HCM Core
Reproducing the Issue
- Click on a SuccessFactors deep link such as: 'https://performancemanager4.successfactors.com/sf/devplan'.
- Observe that the link redirects to the SuccessFactors homepage.
- Click the same link again and observe that it redirects to the intended page.
Cause
The issue occurs because the user must log in to SuccessFactors before accessing the deep link. Upon successful login, the system redirects to the homepage instead of the intended page, depending on the user's configured landing page.
Resolution
To correct the behavior:
- Ensure the deep link includes the loginMethod=SSO parameter to initiate login and redirect to the intended page. For example: "https://performancemanager4.successfactors.com/sf/devplan?company=*COMPANY_ID*&loginMethod=SSO".
- Verify that the parameter is correctly appended to all external deep links to ensure proper redirection after login.
- Test the updated deep links to confirm they redirect to the intended page on the first click.
The usual deep link can be used if 1) there's already an existing session or 2) within the SuccessFactors application
