3666315 - Error message "Specified value ABC is not valid" appears during sales order creation.

Symptom

When trying to create a Sales Order, the following error occurs:

Specified value ABC is not valid.

This error occurs when creating specific sales orders. The error may not occur for other sales orders, even when the customer and project content are identical. In the affected sales orders, the red icon is displayed.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Sales Order work center.

  2. Select the Sales Order view.

  3. Search for an affected Sales Order DEF. (DEF represents the ID of Sales Order)

  4. Open the document flow and observe the PCE icon is displayed.

  5. The error message "Specified value ABC is not valid" appears.

Cause

The error message occurs primarily because an invalid value is maintained in an extension field, which the system cannot process during sales order creation. The first message from SalesOrderProcessing to CustomerInvoiceProcessingRequestInvoicingIn interface was not delivered, resulting in the Sales Order Invoice Request not being successfully created.

Resolution

This error can be resolved by manually correcting the value in the extension field:

  1. Navigate to the affected sales order and open it for editing.

  2. Identify and locate the Extension Field where the invalid value is maintained.

  3. Manually change the value in this field to a valid value recognized by the system.

  4. Save the changes by clicking the Save button.

After saving, the system should process the sales order without the error.
