3671591 - "Quick Actions" and "Quick Links" Functionalities on the Latest Home Page

Symptom

  • The "Add Quick Action or Quick Link" button in "Manage Home Page" > "Manage Quick Actions and Quick Links" only allows the creation of Quick Actions but does not provide an option to add Quick Links.
  • The button label may be misleading if it only allows the creation of Quick Actions.
  • How to add new Quick Links in "Manage Home Page"?

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to Manage Home Page.
  2. Go to Quick Actions and Quick Links. 
  3. Click the button to add a new Quick Action or Quick Links. 

Cause

The method to add a Quick Link is the same as when adding/creating a new Quick Action. The navigation target configuration defines whether the card functions as a Quick Link or a Quick Action.

As per Changes Included in the Latest Home Page Experience | SAP Help Portal: 

  • The existing page previously called Manage Quick Actions is now called Manage Quick Actions and Quick Links. Both types of content are listed on the same page, even though they're displayed in different places on the home page. You can recognize which items are quick actions and which items are quick links by looking in the Function column. You can also recognize quick links because there's no icon shown in the Icon column.
  • When you create a custom quick action or quick link, the location is based on the configuration. If it opens a "popover" dialog, it's considered a quick action. For any other type of behavior (URL, email, JavaScript), it's considered a quick link.

Resolution

  1. Refer to the Quick Actions and Quick Links on the Latest Home Page | SAP Help Portal:
  2. Use the same method for creating Quick Actions to create Quick Links.
  3. Configure the navigation target of the card appropriately:
    • "Quick Action": If it opens a "Popover" dialog, it's considered a "Quick Action" and displayed in the toolbar
      • This means that if the Quick Action > Navigation > target is set to "Popover", then it will be treated as a quick action.
    • "Quick Links": If it has any other behavior (URL, email, JavaScript), it's considered a "Quick Link" and displayed as a link under the greeting message
      • This means it will have the same card display under the greetings but functions as a link when clicked. 

The latest homepage in SuccessFactors is constantly being improved and enhanced. This behavior is also planned to be enhanced to avoid confusion and dedicate a specific tool for managing quick actions and quick links.
