Symptom
The creation of the billing document and the corresponding journal entry are expected to occur simultaneously. However, a time difference is observed between billing document creation timestamp and the journal entry posting timestamp.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Resolution
- This is standard system behavior. Timestamps are internally stored in UTC.
- For journal entries, the system converts the stored UTC timestamp into the local time zone based on the time zone settings configured for the system instance when displaying the data.
- However, for billing documents, this time zone conversion is not applied, and the timestamp is displayed directly in UTC. This difference in handling leads to the observed time discrepancy between the billing document and the corresponding journal entry.
