Symptom

Compensation value from recruiting is cleared after the second rehire check, leaving the base salary pay component blank.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

Reproducing the Issue

Initiate onboarding for a candidate from a requisition.
Run the first rehire check and proceed as a new hire.
Complete the Review New Hire Data step.
Confirm base salary from recruiting appears; add EC and Super records so EC onSave rules run.
Candidate receives an IAS welcome email at the personal data collection step and completes personal data collection.
Provide date of birth to initiate the second rehire check.
Perform profile match and select Rehire with New Employment.
Onboarding restarts; complete Review New Hire Data again and observe compensation fields are blank, and the previously carried value is cleared.

Cause

A business rule configuration sets Compensation Pay Component amounts to zero during the second rehire check.

Resolution

Enable Rule Trace and run the Rehire with New Employment scenario end-to-end using a fresh candidate; capture traces for both the acting user and the BPE service user.
Review the traces to identify any rules that update pay component amount/frequency/currency/UoM and set amounts to 0 during the second rehire check.
Temporarily disable the identified rule(s) and retest the flow.
Update the offending rule(s): adjust conditions to exclude rehire with new employment or second rehire check contexts or modify actions so compensation amounts are retained and not overwritten with zero.
