Symptom
- Clarification needed on how to manage MDF object user interfaces used in onboarding “provide additional data” after the introduction of the latest people profile enhancements (Default Screen and metadata rules).
- Question whether “manage configuration ui” will be fully deprecated for onboarding-only MDF objects not surfaced in the people profile.
- Example scenario involves a custom link added via manage configuration UI to an MDF object used during additional data collection; guidance is requested on the recommended approach going forward.
- No error messages reported.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding
Cause
- For latest people profile/full profile, legacy screen-based configuration (config ui/screen id) is being deprecated in favor of defining the “Default Screen” in the MDF object and using metadata rules; onboarding-specific MDF is (such as those in “provide additional data”) are not yet unified with that new UI stack.
Resolution
- For MDF objects shown in latest people profile/full profile: set the “Default Screen” in the object definition and use metadata rules to control field visibility and mandatory logic; treat legacy config UI as maintenance-only.
- For onboarding-only MDF objects (for example, those used solely in “provide additional data”): continue to manage these uis with “manage configuration ui,” including any custom links, until an onboarding-specific replacement or migration is announced.
- If an onboarding MDF object will also be exposed in latest people profile: create a “Default Screen” for that object and configure logic with metadata rules for the full profile; do not rely on the legacy config UI for the full profile context.
- Treat onboarding-only MDF is and full-profile MDF UI is as separate tracks until unification is communicated.
