Symptom
- A new field "Termination Date" appears in the hiring wizard of Add Contingent Worker.
- Scenario 1: In Add Contingent Worker, trigger a rule on Termination date field from the Identity Information section to raise message or to set the value and notice no rule is triggering.
- Scenario 2: when changes are updated via Work Order Start Date or Work Order End Date fields, it does not sync to Start date and Termination date field automatically.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Contingent Workforce Management
Reproducing the Issue
Prerequisite:
- Create a business rule to trigger a raise message (like termination date should not exceed 6 months) or to set a value in the termination date field.
- Assign the rule as onchange rule in the termination date field under Employment Details HRIS element.
Scenario 1:
- Open Add Contingent Worker page
- Enter a Termination Date (for example : 01/01/2027)
- Result: No error message was thrown in the UI/value set as per the rule
Scenario 2:
- Open Add Contingent Worker page
- Enter a Termination Date (for example : 01/01/2027)
- Result: No error message was thrown in the UI/value set as per the rule.
- Proceed till Work order section
- Notice that Start date and Termination date is synced to Work order start date and end date respectively
- Now, if we try to change the dates via Work order start date and end date, it does not sync to Start date/Termination date.
Cause
- This is a limitation.
- Currently system do not support onChange rules on fields from Identity/Header information portlet in all of the New Hire screens.
Resolution
- We have an open enhancement ticket to support onChange rules on fields from Identity/Header information portlet in all of the New Hire screen. Fix date is not yet finalized.
- To restrict the termination date not to exceed certain period, create and assign onchange rule in the Work Order section.
- The data flow is from Start Date/Termination Date → Work Order Start Date/Work Order End Date and not vice versa.
- As the system follows a top-down processing approach, the date values are expected to originate from the Identity Information section for further validations to occur correctly in Job Information which is used for checking the Position End Date in Job Information.
- To correct the dates, the changes need to be made in the Identity Information section, from where the values will automatically synchronize to the Work Order dates. This is the current system behavior.
