3804584 - Understanding the FM-SECT Index Number in Performance Review Forms - SAP SuccessFactors Performance & Goals

• The FM-SECT index numbers of the subsequent sections are automatically reassigned by the system based on the section arrangement.
• Manually reverting the FM-SECT index numbers in the template XML may initially appear successful; however, the system automatically reassigns the index values again when the form is processed.

1. Modify a Performance Management form by deleting one or more sections.
2. Save the form and observe that the FM-SECT index numbers are automatically reassigned based on the new section order.
3. Update the backend XML to restore the previous FM-SECT index numbers.
4. Reload or process the form/template.
5. Observe that the FM-SECT index numbers are automatically reassigned again by the system.

FM-SECT index numbers are system-assigned based on the display order of the sections. When sections are added, removed, or rearranged, the system automatically recalculates and reassigns the index numbers accordingly. Any manual changes made to the FM-SECT index numbers through the XML may override the section arrangement configured in the Performance Review Form. 

FM-SECT index cannot be manually fixed, as it is automatically assigned based on the current order of the sections. If you need to change the section order, we recommend rearranging the sections through Manage Templates, and the system will automatically update the index.

We do not recommend manually changing the FM-SECT index in the XML, as the system may override the changes. If you have integrations that rely on the section order, make sure to review and test them whenever the form structure is changed.
