Symptom
- The purchase order receipt quantity can be repeatedly used for parked (pre-supplier) invoices.
- After a purchase order is received, the same quantity can be parked multiple times in supplier invoices.
- There is a need to validate and prevent reuse of quantities already parked for supplier invoices.
- No error message is displayed.
Environment
- Product: SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
- Fiori UI for Invoice Verification (Public Cloud)
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the Create Supplier Invoice app and reference a purchase order that has been fully received.
- Park a supplier invoice against the purchase order for the full goods receipt quantity; the invoice is saved with status Parked and Completed.
- Repeat the process and park another supplier invoice for the same purchase order and the same quantity; the system allows it again.
Cause
This is standard behavior: a parked supplier invoice is a preliminary document that does not post to accounting and does not update the purchase order history; therefore, open invoiceable quantity is not reduced at parking time and quantity/tolerance validations are only applied when posting.
Resolution
- Enable the duplicate invoice check in the supplier master (Company Code data → Check double inv.) so duplicate postings are prevented at post time.
- Before posting, verify the open invoiceable quantity in the Manage Supplier Invoices app or the purchase order history, and ensure only one parked invoice is posted for a given goods receipt quantity.
- Delete or adjust any additional parked invoices referencing the same purchase order and goods receipt quantity before posting.
- Optionally implement custom logic to restrict multiple parkings for the same purchase order/goods receipt combination if a posted invoice already exists.
